travel-nurse-jobs-floridaIf you are thinking about a healthcare travel job, Florida has a lot to offer. Maybe you are hoping to live in a warmer climate during the winter or you love the idea of going to the beach on your days off. Whatever your reason for considering Florida as a job destination, you won’t be disappointed.

Keep in mind that competition for healthcare travel jobs may be steep, especially in the winter months. But with perseverance, ambition, and a little luck, you may be able to land a great Florida assignment.

Whichever region you decide upon, there are both large medical centers and small community hospitals. There is plenty to do throughout the state including outdoor activities, tourist attractions, and sports. Below are various regions of Florida to consider.

Florida Panhandle

The Florida panhandle is considered the northwestern area of the state and includes cities of Tallahassee, Panama City, and Pensacola. There are plenty of places to visit and things to do outdoors. If you enjoy beaches, national forests and parks, the Florida panhandle has many attractions to checkout.  National forests include Apalachicola National Forest and Gulf Islands National Seashore. There are also many state parks, such as The Florida Caverns State Park in Marianna, Blackwater River State Park, and St Andrews State Park. The climate in the winter is cool but dry, and the summer is subtropical. While the fall and spring may be perfect times to take an assignment as temperatures are generally in the 70s.

North Florida

If you prefer an area that is a bit more rural than other areas of the state, northern Florida may be a good choice. History buffs may also enjoy working in North Florida. It is home to the city of St. Augustine, which is the oldest settlement in the country. In addition, cities like Gainesville are known for their historical mansions. If you are interested in taking classes, the University of Florida is located in Gainesville. Other North Florida cities include Jacksonville and Park City.

Central Florida

If you select central Florida for your next healthcare travel destination, one thing is for sure: you will not be bored on your days off. Central Florida is a popular destination for tourists all over the world – and with good reason. In central Florida, you will find world famous resorts and destinations including Disney World, The Kennedy Space Center, and Daytona International Speedway. There are miles of beaches in Daytona Beach, Clearwater, and Cocoa Beach. In addition to Orlando, other cities located in center Florida include Saint Petersburg, Tampa, and Cape Canaveral.

South Florida

When you think of working in Florida, the sunny beaches of Miami may be just what comes to mind. Miami has a lot to offer including professional sports teams, museums, cultural activities, and a variety of nightlife opportunities. If you are interested in water sports, there are miles of beaches up and down the coastline in south Florida.  If you want something a little less crowded than Miami, the Florida Keys offer great scuba diving, snorkeling, fishing, and boating.
