Michelle Westfall, MS, MT-BC, the first ever musical therapist we hired at Sunbelt Staffing, will be speaking to a global audience of musical therapy professionals at the 2015 Online Conference for Music Therapy (OCMT)!

Prior to joining Sunbelt in September of 2014, Michelle earned her undergraduate degree at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA and her graduate degree at Radford University in Radford, VA. Her volunteer work involving older patients with dementia served as inspiration for her 2015 OCMT speaker session on Music Therapy for Reducing Anxiety and Stress for Individuals with Dementia.michelle-westfall

“Michelle is a superstar employee. She feels so passionate about the work she does with her students,” says Allison Quinlivan, Michelle’s hiring manager. Her school district’s directors are no less pleased with Michelle’s performance, citing her warm attitude, thoroughness in writing reports, collaborative approach to learning, and willingness to share ideas with teachers whose students aren’t currently in music therapy as reasons for why she has done an amazing job for their school district.

Tune in to the 2015 OCMT on Saturday, February 7, 2015. This 24-hour online conference will take place worldwide, bringing together music therapists from all over the globe to discuss the latest innovations in the field of Musical Therapy.

Music therapy may be one of the most overlooked allied health professions, but perhaps one of the most integral in helping individuals with all aspects of physical and mental health. Thank you for putting the spotlight on this stellar employee and the contribution that Music Therapists make in our schools. Congratulations, Michelle!
